Body Oriented Coaching

A Coaching Experience aims to facilitate and enable you to move towards the future in a way that feels “uniquely” right for you, within the circumstances you are living with and in. A session focuses on providing a safe, non judgmental, open- minded and compassionate space to explore an aspect of your life you want to enquire about.

A coaching session may be useful for:-

  • Exploring and finding ‘you shaped’ ways to work through difficulties and navigate transitions in your life.

  • Digesting and deepening your understanding of the different aspects of complex feelings and situations.

  • Identifying and growing ideas and resources to help you care for yourself, or relate to other people or communities.

  • Developing trust in self and body awareness to enable you to make choices from an informed place of understanding.

  • Growing self confidence to connect with ways to work authentically and creatively

  • Gaining more clarity about present or new ideas for professional and personal growth

  • Exploring work opportunities from a place of resource and centre

  • Reconnecting with your sense of centre and self and cultivating what you love or what makes you feel good.

  • Cultivating self compassion and self confidence

  • Finding a way to trust your experience and find moments of care when times are hard

  • Connecting with a resourced space in yourself that fosters and harnesses understanding, authenticity calm confidence and creativity

  • Identifying next steps that feel uniquely paced and achievable

With coaching the idea is that you’re the expert on your life - you have the answers to what’s troubling you; that your experience is already richly layered with clues and seeds on how to help. The coach aims to provide a space to listen and watch out for these clues, enabling you to listen and hear yourself in a different way. It’s a way of you finding your own sense of clarity and wisdom to enable you to make choices and decisions that fit well with your unique present experience and create realistic and ‘you’ sized aspirations. It takes you away from making decision on what you ‘ think’ you ‘should’ be doing and feeling into what your present experience is telling you and leading you towards.

So what is Body Oriented Coaching?

In a Body Oriented Coaching session we aim to work with the intelligence of your whole self, not just your mind. We invite the body’s experience into the conversation and give special focus to your body, it’s wisdom and its experience in the world.

The mind and body work ‘together in unison’ to interpret and respond to internal and external experiences in the world and in real time. The body is therefore a vast, often untapped store of valuable sensory information and potential insights which can give us clues on how we feel about an experience and offer our mind very clear and often novel intuitive ideas on how to navigate a situation that you maybe bringing to a coaching session.

This coaching modality is rooted not only in ancient holistic traditions such as Buddhism and Taoism but is also underpinned by the latest scientific findings. It is evidence based, research led and trauma informed. The course is accredited by the ICF (International Coaching Federation).

The difference between coaching and Therapy

How is body oriented coaching different to therapy?

Body Oriented Coaching focuses on your present experience to enable you to step towards the future from where you are now.  Although aspects of the past may be touched on, we are not trying to understand the effects of your past on the present (the realm of psychotherapy). Instead we aim to look at reality just as it is, in order for you to be in touch with your body’s experience of it and, to track it’s cues, impulses, knowing and responses. We trust this  process to enable new awarenesses to emerge that can in turn provide a direction forward with a situation you are bringing to the coaching space.

So what does a session look like?

We start with defining and getting really clear about what it is you would like to explore in the time we have together. We then allow time to be led by your body and mind’s experience of the enquiry you are bringing. Time is then set aside at the end of the session to clarify where we have journeyed to and to ascertain what you are taking with you from your exploration and what the session can offer you in ‘this moment’ and also in the reality of your everyday life, defining any steps you might like to take with the insights you have gained.

What is on offer and how much does a session cost?

I offer a 30 minute free discovery call to enable you to find out a little more about how I work in order for us to work out if the coaching I offer is right for you. From here, you can make an informed choice as to whether you want to book one 1 hour session or a group of 3 or 6. The spacing of sessions is tailored to meet your needs.

*** Although I am now a qualified body oriented coach, I am at present working towards ICF (Interenational Coaching Federation) accreditation, Until I reach this point I am asking for a fee of £25 + per session, based on what you can individually and uniquely afford. Please get in touch if you are a low earner and cannot afford this as I have limited spaces to offer a reduced fee if you are able to commit to a group of 6 sessions. ***

Do message me if you are interested in booking a discovery call, or pass my details on to anyone you feel may benefit from this. My preference is to see people in person if possible, but zoom is always an option if not.
